HOLLYWOOD, CA - (October
2007) – Fase 1 Entertainment
inks deal with Fontana/Universal.
John "JF" Ferguson and John "JP"
Patillo our truly on the pulse. After a
year of looking for the right distribution
partner, JF and JP decided to go with the
largest distributor on the planet. In meeting
with Chris Ayres and the staff over at Fontana
they knew that from an independent perspective
this would be the right place for them to
call home. Fontana staff has open arms with
their label in providing them with training
to succeed and access to UMVD whole back
end system. After years of having success
in the record business they have a true
understanding of performing day to day real
record company functions. Fontana/Universal
allows them to have the resources of their
sales staff, field representatives, their
brand and so much more.
Fase 1 Entertainment for the rest of the
year will be on the road securing radio,
branding the label and looking for new talent
to distribute in 2008. Moreover, they will
be signing sub-labels to distribute through
their distribution deal. There are plenty
of labels who are almost there. Fase 1 Entertainment
will be providing some of these labels with
the tools to take it to the next level.
They know that these labels are looking
for partners like Fase 1 Entertainment to
help them administrate their labels and
give them a real game plan in distributing
their artists.
JF and JP have years of experience in developing,
administrating, and selling records. Collectively
they have participated in selling millions
of independent records for such artists
as Paperboy, Coo Coo Cal, Daz Dillinger,
Lil Flip, Twista, Gheto Boys, Master P.,
Cash Money and many others. They have always
worked with the Majors and the Indies. JF
worked at Tommy Boy Records and JP worked
at Southwest Wholesale, at one time the
largest independent distributor in Texas.
This major/independent mix allowed them
to stay in front of their competitors. They
had the best of both worlds.
Currently Fase 1 has deals with Keeplock
Entertainment, 3sixty5 Records, and Swing
On D's Entertainment. Over the next few
months the label roster will continue to
grow. Fase 1 Entertainment will be selective
in the deals they secure. Whether it's financing,
great production or promotions, each partner
will have to bring something to the table.
The deal with Fontana/Universal will allow
them to continue to stay on the pulse so
stay tuned.
